It is one of the few commercial historic sites in Taipei City. After the restoration by Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government, the western-style architecture has been transformed into a mini museum for understanding the history of former Taipei city.

As time goes on, the Northwest City tells the stories about the development and changes of Taipei City, the surrounding history of the Northwest District, the history of constructing this building and its relationship with Mitsui Group during the Japanese colonial period.
